CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Highlights From Day 1 and 2 NYFW

New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 is in full swing everyone! Even in the freezing cold and snow, fashionistas [and nistos] will be running around the city to shows all week…us included, of course! We at FashionDailyMag had an electrifying start to this very exciting week of all things fashion fabulous. We’re putting everything aside to take in all the fashionable excitement buzzing around the city. And to us, that’s the best kind of indulgence imaginable. Now throw on your stylish best and do some indulging too because here’s a wrap-up of Days 1 and 2.

Day 1 began with a backstage look at Nicholas K’s dark and edgy runway show at the Lincoln Center. With Avon mavens in charge of make-up, it was high-energy glam fest on and off the stage. The Houghton show at Milk Studios really garnered the buzz. Gorgeous long striped coats were a definite standout. Has become one of our up-and-coming favorites. Evening wear with a bit of an edge. Katie Gallagher’s runway show was at the gorgeous Highline Hotel. Things were kept dark and elegant, with high-collared coats accenting the beautiful setting perfectly.

In the middle of the first day, our editor [Brigitte] had a chance to speak with Costello Tagliapietra designers Jeffery and Robert backstage before the show. After asking what gets them excited season after season, Costello said, “Fabrics excite us! The collection develops and you start thinking like it’s a piece of art.” For this new collection, the two developed a lovely silk jersey with a dry hand. Fashion’s new fabric masters? We think so! Plus, they develop their own printed artwork. Love it.

For the remainder of the jam-packed day, Desigual soared with funky printed dresses while the Araks presentation was elegant and stunning. As Day 1 came to a close, Brandon Sun’s collection was downright breathtaking with a Swarovski-crystal gown the definite showstopper. To conclude the day, ODD. brought out the outuré theatrics they’re become accustomed to…and we enjoyed the performance from beginning to end.

As for Day 2, it was just as thrilling as the 1st— with a few extra surprises that made it even better. First thing in the morning, we headed to Milk Studios to get some Peter Som backstage hair shots by the fabulous Wella Professionals. Gorgeous hair, duds and models— it was a triple win. We headed to the tents next to witness the best kind of high-drama at Carmen Marc Valvo. He presented a bevy of female warriors in head-to-toe glamour. Always exciting to see what this red carpet favorite turns out. Went to neon land at Degen where we saw Nicola Wincenc and Lyle Lodwick.

We then had the greatest time backstage at the General Idea menswear show at the piers. We must say it’s become a favorite of ours + it’s always fun to say a quick hello to the boys. Especially Benjamin Jarvis, Guerrino Santulliana, Abel van Oeveren, and new 18+ Dima Dionesov. Loved the vibe, loved the show. Charlotte Ronson’s presentation was girly, pretty and flower-filled. Matching boots were a cute touch and the girls were so pretty.

Academy of Art University was a burst of color backstage. Best of student’s show we’ve ever seen. Especially liked the laced ensemble. Caught up backstage with Emerson designer Jackie Fraser-Swan as she got her amazing Essie nails done. Fabulous.
