CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

HIGHLIGHTS from BERLIN FASHION WEEK fall 2014

Berlin really kickstarted the upcoming Fall 2014 season with a slew of super talented designers. As this city continues to rise in fashion popularity, it has become a definite favorite among fans and spectators alike. Call it the ‘underdog’ of the fashion capitals, but we have a feeling it’s only a matter of time before it’s granted that same status as its European and American counterparts.

This is a place where designers don’t mind taking risks. It’s free-spirited attitude makes it a very special city to keep your eye on. Photographer Dunja Antic snapped some gorgeous shots of lines you’ll be dying to get to know. Trust us…they’re special.

Titled ‘Opaque,’ Isabell de Hillerin’s collection is full darks colors and low neck cuts. Moody, sleek and undeniably a winter set, there are some knockout looks that can help anyone get over the winter doldrums. Rust looks hot in a long leg-showing skirt while an open-back jumpsuit is sexy with shear sleeves. There’s also a lovely sprinkling of ethnic prints throughout. These dark duds and transfixing and witchy fun. Think modern Salem. Instead of a hat and broom, these girls intimidate with killer heels and a whole lot of leg. Catch our drift? Love it.

Dawid Tomaszewski’s collection is just as mysterious. For starters, the runway is dimly lit as the models walk over a runway of fallen leaves. The backdrop appears indigo, mimicking a full moon on a late-autumn night. As for the clothes, there’s gorgeous dark trenches, fuzzy vests and quite a few evening gowns that are beautiful in feldgrau green. A feathery green coat is one piece that stands out the most. It lays so beautifully as it’s perfectly paired with a sheer top and skinny-fitted pants. A truly memorable collection from beginning to end. Plus, the colors are beyond.

Augustin Teboul’s collection is one of the most innovative and memorable sets from this fashion week. The fantastic bedecked and bedazzled face mask accessories add the right amount of avant-garde allure right off the bat. The beige and black looks contrast beautifully, as this muse is most definitely a punky princess. Cuts are sharp and severe while tulle adds a lovely softness. There’s even some leather accenting that’s retro fabulous. We’re a little spellbound over it.  These three collections are a few favorites from the really outstanding showing at Berlin. They just keep getting better and better. We’re excited to see what’s next for Deutschland. fdmLOVES BERLIN Fall 2014 Highlights selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
