Fashion Week Brooklyn: a Haven for Local Labels and Global Creators

Fashion Week Brooklyn just presented its 2022 line up of local designers and innovators, with Brooklyn as the backdrop and axis of activity. Continuing to nurture fashion and commerce by providing visibility and opportunity at the forefront in Brooklyn, FWBK collaborated once again with Non-profit BK|Style Foundation (BK|SF) and Made in NYC to celebrate Streetwear x RTW x Couture.

The Fashion Week Brooklyn schedule featured a variety of categories, including sustainability, ready-to-wear, streetwear, kidswear, and digital design. The Time after Time ’80s RETRO-spective in partnership with the Brooklyn Fashion Incubator featured Regina Kravitz, the label One Piece Wear by Rita, Parpatreq by Patrick, and Kenny Bonavitacola. The Sustainable x Vintage COPE NYC partnered event highlighted a diverse showing of designers and labels such as Brownstone Bride, C’est La Si, Hair By Karyne, Damage at Divinity Boutique NYC, Anicy Manuguian, and Jnigel. 

Fashion Week Brooklyn and BK Style Foundation partnered with the Pratt Center for Community Development‘s local branding initiative Made in NYC to celebrate Streetwear x RTW x Couture featuring five New York-based fashion lines. Featured designers and labels include UQNATU, Ameliora, D. Webb Designs, NOORISM, and Hip Hop Closet. It amplifies the “Made in NYC” mission to support local talent and advocates for local manufacturers and makers in the community.

BK Style is now gearing up to March across Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn Borough a hall to Foley square on April 27 for Denim Day NYC to support survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.” – Rick Davy, founder of the 501c3 non-profit BK|Style Foundation (BK|SF)

Hosts Rae Holliday and Marie Driven drew a sizable crowd of donors for the “Denim Night Out” fundraiser to support Denim Day NYC organization at the Box Factory. The night featured designer Biggy Design and popular Brooklyn boutique Vinnie Styles clothing brand Dreamland. Marie said, “It was great to have the community out in full force for a cause, especially after such a long period of inactivity in terms of arts and entertainment-related in-person events.” The Design Dimension Runway show closed out the week-long event with ready-to-wear, couture, and avant-garde collections. The roster included Black Fives (Puma Collection), Living Museum x COPE NYC collective, Ann Spoyer, Items Of Revelry, Irkan Sheikh, Yema, and Jojo Club Kids.
