CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Ellery Spring 2014 PFW

Inspiration can be found in just about anything. For the Ellery Spring 2014 collection (its first showing in Paris), Australian designer, Kym Ellery, fell in love with 70s interior decorating and collages. That fascination is shown in gorgeously rich textures of silk organza, gauze, woodgrain lamé and satin foam. Volume is experimented here with delicious results.

The 70s influences are most prominently seen in super flared black bell bottoms that scream disco fever. A-line, high-waisted skirts are adorable with matching cropped tops in graphic variations. Ellery enlisted the talents of contemporary artist, Ben Barretto, to recreate works of art on hand-crafted tapestries. They’re placed on the fronts of tops and dresses, and tie in the relaxed vibe and seen happening here. The color palette must be mentioned, because it’s all soothing shades of wine, garnet, black, white nude and metallic silver. Prints are whimsical on pants and flouncy tops that are every bit striking as stunning. The ‘abstract collage’ pattern is really fantastic here.

Womenswear is flirting with some menswear staples here, as pin-striped blazers allure. Two gowns in deep black are the perfect finales for this set. They both feel retro romantic. A divine set from a talented designer down under. fdmLOVES ELLERY Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa. more pics to come
