dubbed TIME 100: the 100 most influential people in the world

about TIME: the tenth annual TIME 100 listing of the 100 most influential people in the world is out today. Amongst the relevant (100) few, a handful of artists and  fashionables who made the list got our immediate attention. No surprise with Kate Middleton, but it was a nice surprise to see a local NYFW designer, Michael Kors featured along with Jay Z, Jenna Lyons, Tadashi Yanai, and the list goes on.

This is  good train reading material, here’s a sneak peak at some of the interviews from the APRIL 29, 2013 issue, on newstands from the 19th on.- brigitte segura.

on Michael Kors,  by Zac Posen:

It takes a great deal of resilience and staying power to last for decades, and it’s a testament to Michael’s very clear vision…. Michael takes the wonderful heritage of American sportswear into the future, translating it internationally for every woman and man who wants to be a part of the American Dream.”

Managing Editor Rick Stengel writes,  “This year we are trying something new: seven cover portraits of Time 100 honorees who reflect the breadth and depth of our list, each one profiled inside—as is our tradition—by an equally luminary voice…. We commissioned the renowned photographer Mark Seliger to create the covers. The shoots took him and his crew to Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Washington and Birmingham, England, where he took the first formal portrait of Malala since she survived a vicious attack by the Taliban last October.”  read more here.   Check out on Kate Middleton by Sally Bedell Smith.

“In 22 years at J. Crew, where she is now executive creative director, she has made fashion relatable. She’s allowed mothers and daughters to dress with the same kind of attitude. I buy J. Crew, my mom does, my sister does, my niece and nephew do. She understands our zeitgeist. Being fashionable doesn’t mean being trendy; it means having a sense of style. Jenna has made J. Crew more than a brand or a company – it’s a philosophy that believes in style.”- on Jenna Lyons, by Prabal Gurung.
