CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Dolce Gabbana Spring 2014 MFW

Given the controversies surrounding this particular house as of late, Dolce & Gabbana‘s Spring 2014 collection was (like) a sigh of relief. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented one more amazing ready to wear line, a sort of bittersweet feeling. Sicily is seen everywhere, from architecture, flowers to coins. Speaking of coins, they show up on just about everything in this set. Perhaps finding inspiration in the most unusual circumstances? Regardless, this particular spring collection is a knockout. Classic Gabbanawe all know and love.

Like their most recent menswear line, Sicilian culture is highlighted on so many different looks. This time, the two featured ancient Greece and their favorite island off the coast of Italy. Old photographs of ancient landmarks are placed upon dresses, tops and skirts as fantastic prints. Things feel dreamy and mystical in these particular pieces, bringing back a bit of wearable history. The details throughout are immaculate, especially on gorgeous gold coin belt buckles. They resemble prizefighting medallions. Our ladies here are wearing them just as proudly. Colors are rich and exciting in bright red, emerald, gold, blue and midnight black. Gorgeous almond blossoms are featured on different looks in prints and in 3D forms, just itching for springtime.

One great detail included placing ancient architectural columns into heels…so crazy clever. Classic screen sirens like Sofia Loren influenced full skirts and 1950s styled coats. Plus, those fuzzy waistcoats with mini skirts haunt back to times previously. But really, this designing duo created brand new memories with this collection. fdmLOVES DOLCE & GABBANA Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
