CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Concept Korea Fall 2014 NYFW

Now in its ninth season at the Lincoln Center, Concept Korea presented four diverse Korean designers for Fall 2014 during NYFW. Titled ‘Aspire to Inspire,’ the show was filled with the best of K-fashion and included Kaael E. Suktae by Lee Suk Tae, CHOIBOKO by Choi Bo Ko, Beyond Closet by Ko Tae Yong and Big Park by Park Youn Soo. This was a roaring set that showed the diversity of Korea’s fashion scene.

Starting the set off with a bang, Kaal E. Suktae was filled with plenty of black leather staples and 90s-inspired silhouettes. Wide-brim hats added mysterious intrigue and the vibe was grunge fabulous. The leather is super on point for right now…we’re in love. The CHOIBOKO line contained an array of gorgeous white and multi-colored coats, most decorated beautifully with graphic print paint splotches and swirls. Dresses complement the outerwear looking like paintings on the walls of the MoMa.

Beyond Closet gave us military-inspired menswear lookers like trench coats, bomber jackets and double-breasted suits. Colors popped with masculine flair and the green-tinted sunglasses were a funky touch. Camo looked just as hot in a psychedelic suit with a matching olive green turtleneck. Formal wear for the fancier kind of fella. Big Park was heavy on the checkered print but never short on attitude. Coats are full and street-style fab especially with the braided hairstyles. One coat, in particular, really stood out: the checkered hooded number with the fuzzy sleeves. That was saved towards the end for one last added ‘pow’ of awesome. Plus, there’s nothing better than leather in red.

We’re liking what we’re seeing from across the sea. Korea’s fashion scene is exciting and full of innovation…we dig it. fdmLOVES CONCEPT KOREA selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
