DESIGN DUOs as CFDA 2013 awards menswear nominees

CFDA just announced their nominees set for the 2013 Fashion Awards.  We’re rooting a couple of DESIGN DUOs nominated for this year’s awards.  For the Swarovski Award for Menswear, PUBLIC SCHOOL represents a beautiful New York story, as the collection is inspired by the city’s occupants and designed by two natives, Dao-Yi and Maxwell.   Another one of our faves for men this season is DUCKIE BROWN: designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver have been nominated for the 2013 CFDA Award for Menswear Designer of the Year.

MADE in NY: PUBLIC SCHOOL designs are crafted by the hands of local NY artisans, and shown and sold in the neighborhoods that support the local design community. Recently showing not one but two menswear collections during February’s NYFW, Duckie Brown and Perry Ellis by Duckie Brown, the [dynamic] NY duo had a tremendous year with partnerships including the 2nd collection for PEDB, and their continued growth of Duckie Brown, launched in 2001.   Check out the Videos from both designers below, and see what we are so excited about! – brigitte

Additional nominees in the 2013 Menswear Designer of the Year category include Thom Browne and Michael Bastian.  The CFDA Awards show will take place on June 3rd at Lincoln Center.
