Burberry Prorsum RESORT 2014

Transforming the Trench: Girl Next Door with a dash of understated sexiness was the Burberry Prorsum babe for Resort 2014. Creative Director Christopher Bailey mixed sweet and spice this season, meaning lots of lace but in a light way that will catch a neighbor’s notice. Plenty of bows, pastels, and glowing jewels for pre-spring 2014.

There’s always the streetwise side to the Burberry brawn, which leads to skintight silhouettes and a white hot wedge heel, showing that she is the queen of the urban jungle. The designer brought a variety of cutouts, by offering them on everything from bow tied backless gowns to bonded silk organza lace pencil skirts. The trench this time made a comeback with megawatt embellishments and jewels in accenting hues. For colors, pale yellows, sage greens, and lilacs, looked luxe on both the day and night dresses.

Continuing the long and lean look, Bailey played with necklines for resort. He offered everything from strapless to boatneck to cowl, keeping us on our toes the whole time. Other reminders of season’s past meant lots of see-thru pieces, but if you’re not ready for that, Burberry also offers solid inserts. Handbags, ranging from jumbo satchels to mini clutches brought pops of color in a range of hues, reminding us, it’s resort  after all. fdmloves BURBERRY resort 2014 selects by brigitte segura, written by Mary Anderson.
