CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH spring 2013 NYFW

The kitschy coolness that doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the eclectically innovative factor. Notables Leigh Lezark, Mia Moretti, David Denman, Mercedes Masohn, and Waris Ahluwalia were among the crowd, as an 80s style scene unfolded at the ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH spring 2013 NYFW runway show held at milk studios, fab complete with a Culture Club soundtrack at that. A primary palette touched the majority of the ensembles, with a few other vibrant shades tucked in. Several checkered motifs were integrated into streamlined silhouettes, a few takes on black + white, a two toned orange option, and a multicolored milieu.

Herch’s hearts on fire appliqués in patterns and solids meant all love for the time period of homage. Purposeful plaids provided some proper, especially when slightly vested or schoolish. Big block lettering boldly printed on a number of pieces was funky and most definitely fun.

Not surprisingly, considering the driving theme, models donned Boy George hats (designs by Stephen Jones), nestled nicely over just beyond shoulder length hair (Moroccan Oil) similar to the look of you know who, not to mention a head scarf for that added flair. Lace-up heeled ankle boots, in a heap of hues, were cute with the right amount of clunky. It’s one thing to enjoy the nostalgia, and another to be fearless, almost outlandishly so with your fashion. Serious aficionados however know what’s worth wardrobing, and what’s meant for entertaining. written by Sarah A. Freiseis.  Photo selects coming soon.
