ZIAD NAKAD couture ss17 paris
Ziad Nakad’s butterflies made their way down the runway during his spring summer 2017 couture show in Paris. Capturing the essence of a blooming garden, Nakad’s collection promises extravagance and elegance. The innocent and girly blushed cheeks gave attention to the remarkable handwork on the gowns.
Dripping with beading and frothed along the runway, each gown was designed to make an entrance. The two outliners were particularly pretty in the way the pale blue leaves encrusted in Swarovski stones were appliqued onto the peach tulle baring relation to the fantasy garden theme. Another fave look was the peach layered of ruffles giving a floating feeling. By the show’s midpoint, those in the audience were adrift the designer’s fantasy.
Each silhouette combines tradition and modernity reminiscent of a sparkling bouquet of peonies, lilies and roses. The delicate forms appear though the various cuts; wide or narrow, short or long and even asymmetrical for an authentic touch. Gowns were embellished with laser cut 3-D embroidered butterflies. If this was not enough for the glamour factor each gown was topped off with bronze and jeweled belts as well as studded handbags.
And then there was the bridal gown to finish things off. The Marie Antoinette-esque ball gown embroidered and beaded to perfection soared down the runway giving the perfect end to a floral vision.
Overall, Ziad Nakad’s Spring Summer 2017 Couture Collection embodied and captured the innocence of a flourishing French garden in the height of spring.
