CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Spring 2014 LFW

Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label Spring 2014 runway show started out with a dramatic interpretation of Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Red Shoes.’ The girl in the spotlight is none other than supermodel, Lily Cole, as she dances to her ‘death’ like the girl in the story. After that brief interlude, Westwood’s models came out in full force. Painted faces to look like animals trapped in the headlights, this was a political and [fashionable] tour de force from the English designer.

It’s an artistic expression of the world’s impending climate change, something that’s deeply important to the designer. Combined with marvelous styles, this was a show to remember.

There are some fantastic styles in this collection, including a gorgeous floral photoprint on a silk jumpsuit and dresses. A chain-mail trench coat and trousers are another definite highlight, as are high-waisted shorts that feel super fresh for the season. A classic Westwood skirtsuit is never left out, and this version includes a pulled waist that soars. The color palette stayed varied, as black looks and blue dazzlers look superb with slouchy cuts and wonderful big flower details. Even a camo green trench gets a lift with an adorable graphic T and orange shorts that pop. Plus, we can’t get enough of those brown heeled ankle boots. Lovely.

The political mantra comes alive as ‘CLIMATE’ is plastered across the front of a shirt dress combo in navy lettering. Raising awareness while also producing exquisite clothing, only Vivienne could achieve such a feat. Always a lovely surprise. fdmLOVES VIVIENNE WESTWOOD RED LABEL Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
