CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

VIONNET DEMI-COUTURE fall 2013

Here’s a another lovely surprise from Maison Vionnet, keeping Madeline Vionnet’s spirit alive with this sensual Demi-Couture AW 2013-2014 collection that’s so exquisite, it’s unreal. Only 4 colors are used on these high drama gowns that represent independence, passion, purity and harmony. These midnight blue, deep red, nude and bottle green hues are the colors of quick days and cold nights. They’re so striking that they’ll light up a room. The colors are just so warm like a glowing candle.

The Vionnet woman can be described as modern elegance. Some of Madame Vionnet’s dearest friends are visually represented here, including a dragon motif that was delicately taken from mid-30s sketches by Thayaht. French artist Sonia Delaunay’s imaginative inspiration also appears throughout. These gowns flow and swoosh in gorgeous silks, chiffons, satins, pique cary. Even matching capes accent the pieces, that tumble delicately off the shoulders and lightly graze the floor. Take a closer look and you will see that they’re even enriched with luxurious mink. Vionnet’s classic bias cut, draping and pleating are never forgotten and always included in a conventional way. Slim-fitting body suits have that vintage edge that’s so on point for today. Sexy sophistication.

The details are immaculate here, especially in a technique that clusters beads on dentelle chantilly. Watch how material from centuries ago can still get a facelift in this modern day and age. All looks are flawless and ideal for holiday parties and mid-winter events. They have the grace and elegance of years before but a 21st century flair that’s demanded in formalwear. So much to gush about. fdmLOVES VIONNET demi-couture AW 2013-2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
