VICE acquires i-D MAGAZINE
fashionable news on the horizon: VICE and i-D have just announced a partnership of COOL on December 18, 2012. VICE, the global youth media company, has acquired i-D and plans an Online Fashion Channel and expansion of global circulation of the FAB mag both online and in print.
the glossy i-D publication, with its innovative photography and typography, is known for keeping a close eye on street style and youth culture. Featuring some of the fashion world’s most provocative people, photographers, editors, stylists, writers, and emerging talent, we’ve come to love collecting these glossies. Now, sharing a common dedication to street, youth, and DIY culture, VICE will draw on “its own transformation from a punk zine into a digital powerhouse to build i-D’s online footprint through its core creative vision and style.” Planning to expand i-D’s existing website, [utilizing i-D’s creative vision and talent] and innovative video-driven channel will be dedicated to exploring everything from couture to underground fashion scenes all over the world.

i-D founder Terry Jones and his wife Tricia will remain partners and shareholders in i-D and continue to be creative visionaries. i-D’s editorial staff will join forces with VICE’s operations and continue to generate content for i-D. VICE, which controls a network of video-driven platforms dedicated to music, technology, sports, news, and travel, will use the acquisition of the 32-year-old brand to expand its reach into digital fashion content.
