CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Valentino Menswear Spring 2014

Inspired by military attire, Creative Directors Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri send uniforms of blue down the spring 2014 runway for Valentino menswear. Breaking down the palette with faded camo patterns and fresh whites interject off duty duds that are completed with Havaianas croc and rubber sandals. These workwear themed looks don’t mean that quality is pushed to the back burner, as an array of suiting showcased a sensible, standout man.

This Valentino man is right up our alley… and Arthur Gosse looks pretty fantastic in the VM look.  The silhouette for this season is sleek and straight, by balancing the full shouldered looks with skinny ties. Colorblocking in muted tones of navy blue and black breaks up the blazers and buttoned jackets. Touches of tan and forest green looks present a lighter, and ever so daringly delectable side of the spring 2014 man. Intricate toile de Jouy on khaki chinos bring a freshness, while the fuller shape symbolizes that it’s just for the boys.  Rolled bags resembling newspapers add jolts of neon color to the collection’s dark hues.

Outside of the suited variety, numerous camo jackets and sweaters are plastered with leather pockets, shifting menswear staples to the 21st century. A double cotton hooded coat will keep this season’s stud looking sharp while safe from the elements. The creative directors designed footwear functional for any part of the Valentino man’s day, ranging from sandals to trainers to loafers. After sliding on some tinted shades, this Valentino man isn’t part of the pack, he runs it ! A lux leader, fdmLOVES Valentino Mens Spring 2014 selectsby Brigitte Segura, written by Mary Anderson.
