Valentina Kova spring 2015 NYFW

Standing out from the crowd is the best way to get attention, and this is what Valentina Kova intended to do with her Spring|Summer looks. The Russian designer didn’t feel the pressure to follow current trends and her collection is a refreshing blend of colorful pants, jackets, dresses and skirts, inspired by the ocean and beaches. The added bonus of the presentation held rooftop at the SoHo Mondrian gave an additional summer feel against the backdrop of NYC.

Overall, the collection was very cool. Uncomplicated silhouettes were dolled up with lace detail. Leather jackets, sleeked back hair and aviator sunglasses made even floor-length dresses chic with an attitude. The meticulous construction made these designs so sleek, while bright colors made the collection fun. Vibrant blue, yellow, and pink were amongst the color palette that livened up the collection.

Her work has attracted the likes of Lorde and Lady Gaga, and actress Laverne Cox was spotted wearing a sophisticated white dress that was part of the recent collection while posing for a photo with the designer. Stylish and straightforward, Valentina Kova knows what she likes and was able to beautifully bring her creative ideas to life with this collection.
