Students Shine at Academy of Art University NYFW

During NYFW, ten designers from the School of Fashion at Academy of Art University in San Francisco showed their Spring 2014 collections at the Lincoln Center. Hoping to launch their careers in the industry, these students showcased amazing lines to a packed crowd of onlookers. We had the opportunity to stay backstage, where we spent some time with models like Justin Sterling. It was a high-energy night, seeing the great talent of these fashion up-and-comers.

Four womenswear and four menswear lines were shown, including two collaborations of fashion/ knitwear design and fashion/textile design. Designers included Didvik Kuang, Gwen Shihyao Lai, Marine Rongrong Wei, Shanshan Bai, Winbo Shiau, Leslie Dilloway, Vicken Derderian, Ryan Morar, Melissa Avalos, and Nika Tang. Clothing highlights included sculpted womenswear jackets, knitwear pieces, ‘liquid’ pants and t-shirts, painted wear, and fantastic ruffle detailing. Such promising talent from one school. We wish each and every one of them success in their fashion endeavors. What a show!
