CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Raf Simons Menswear spring 2014

Menswear can sometimes border on androgyny. Raf Simons Menswear spring 2014 collection has jumped that border and may be in full female territory with this assortment. Rompers and sweaters that resemble short dresses are featured in poppy bright colors and loud slogan prints. These pieces were showed in an airport outside of Paris, and the audience members were sure in for a wild trip with this memorable set.

Things here can only be described as “out there,” made out of synthetic fabrics that attract the eye. Statement pieces galore, the mixture of prints and colors are dizzying together…but this is exactly what Simons is going for. Oversize shirts and polos come in pink and bright graphics. Silhouettes are so elongated that it’s hard to see the short black shorts underneath. Look again, and you might think these male models are, in fact, wearing funky mod dresses. Even a white suit jacket is tailored so delicately. There’s no masculine lines in this collection whatsoever. It’s the designer’s take on the consumer culture we live in.

A piece that really stands out is the retro black and white “M” print cardigan that’s hypnotizing with the equally modish print shirt underneath. There’s something about those two prints that work harmoniously together. Take a glance at the feet, and you will feast your eyes upon some rocking shoes. The white rain boots with the orange criss-cross stripe are beyond. There’s even some hot wing-tips throughout.
