CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Prada Spring 2014 MFW

“I am woman, hear me roar” proclaims Prada‘s Spring 2014 collection presented during Milan Fashion Week. Designer Miuccia Prada‘s set of feminine abstract prints and colorful hues is a true ode to the female body and spirit. And we’re talking literal here: painted faces of diverse females are plastered all over knee-length dresses and coats. Fabric acted as a true painter’s caves, and the results are eye-catching marvelous.

The designer herself said she’s hooked on the idea of female strength and power. Is this a political statement on women’s rights? It could be, but it could also simply be a collection celebrating being female. The colors are so vibrant, so attention-seeking and compliment the fantastic painted faces. Actual artists painted these works and Prada gave them free reign with their creations. The finished products are truly something special. The coats, dresses and skirts are all so wearable with unique embellished details and perfect color blocking. So many pieces have keyhole fronts and ‘outside’ bras that were even cleverly incorporated into the portraits at times. Owning a piece from this collection would be like owning a piece out of The Met.

High knee-socks and leg warmers are sporty chic and never take away from everything up top. When masters of their craft collaborate, magic happens. A MFW treat. fdmLOVES PRADA spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
