CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Prime in Prada AW 2013

When we thought we’d seen it all, we were wrong, and leave it to Prada prodigy, Miuccia Prada, to show us something we have yet to see run throughout the AW 2013-2014 collections. Miuccia ‘s prim approach to 1950’s housewife attire was curbed with a brilliant au courant detective-like  (or criminal) presence. Slicked-back wet, glossy locks and berry-tinted lips “bond-ed” together a dangerously alluring look that was presented at PRADA AW 13 during Milan Fashion Week.

The girls that walked PRADA fw 2013 became a hot (social) topic, with the likes of favorites on the catwalk including Daphne Groenveld, who managed to look ultra sexy with the sunnies, Lindsey Wixson, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Adriana LimaMariacarla BosconoMagdalena Frackowiak as well as veterans Jessica Stam and Esther De Jong rocking the checkered looks. Gingham dresses, blazers, coats, pencil and A-like skirts were interlocked with their own personal edge that transformed these vintage “housewife” ensembles into something modernly seductive, and the oversized gingham bag is a must-have for any season.

The dresses were worn dangled off of one or both shoulders, sleeves didn’t dare move above the elbow, and almost every piece in the collection modestly, but enticingly, rested below the knee, delicately exposing undressed calves. The collection exquisitely combined daytime attire with midnight opulence, through sequined paneled appliqués nesting on the bodices of neutral toned or checker-embossed hourglass pieces. Minuscule Patches and candy-striped motifs of warm 50’s colors patterned various garments with hues such as sky blue, Indian turquoise, sandstone, burnt caramel, mahogany, and coral pink that were intertwined with the ever-lasting blacks and stone grays. The accessories in the collection went hand in hand with the clothing, adorned in the same lively 50’s impressions, with ginham, leather, crocodile, and tweed, bowling and top handle bags, fabulously paralleled matching coats and dresses.
