Perfect Prints at Peter Pilotto Resort 2014

Well -constructed print placement is what design partners Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos are known for. For their Peter Pilotto Resort 2014 collection, they did not shy away from what they do best…and also decided to try something new. Like for many designers, Resort is a time for experimentation with colors and fabric choices. The designers played with new silhouettes and color techniques, resulting in a fresh and lovely set of ready-to-wear pieces.

The prints are so very vivid in this collection. Although cliché, we can’t help but say that this line is simply breathtaking. Pilotto and De Vos are print masters, and so many of these dresses look like walking photographs. There’s an obvious Asian influence in everything, especially in the series of flower print pieces. These picturesque looks are accented with stripes, not busily, but quite fantastically. The bright colors are more noticeable at first, but the gray in the stripes works so well too. Most of the dresses rise above the knee for an added youthful effect. There’s also several short sets, skirts, and pants.

Mixed with the bright motifs are modish geometric patterns on several other dresses. This color blocking is something new the designers dabbled in, but no one would know this is a first-time thing. The single evening gown in the collection looks flawless with the navy and white color blocking. The dress tapers straight to the floor, making the model look like a standing porcelain doll. With a colorful palette, this line is stunning. fdmLOVES PETER PILOTTO resort 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
