opening ceremony presents William Okpo Spring 2014

As the sun set on the Hudson River, one super funky presentation was happening. The William Okpo Spring 2014 collection was held at SuperPier, teaming up with Opening Ceremony as part of their BTW (By The Water) series. The beautiful location was the perfect backdrop for the presentation, a fun surprise to see. Designer sisters Lizzy and Darlene Okpo continue to fuse modern looks with their Nigerian culture, turning out something uniquely fabulous every single season.

As DJs A$AP J. Scott and Huggy Bear spun fresh beats from artists like Toro y Moi, the girls stood facing the sunset, alternating back and forth. Their stances could only be described as fierce, completely rocking the duds. Lots of leather, mesh and cotton were used on the super trending cuts that included bandeau tops, tanks, and an updated take on the skirt suit. Think a cross between contemporary cuts with 80s graphics. Speaking of, loved the prints all over a lot of the looks. The designers collaborated with artist Will Gallagher, who created many of their graphics. They interpret African barber shop posters with cool-kid haircuts, and they were placed upon a majority of the styles. Love it!

The penny loafer and socks were also a super cute added touch. With futuristic hair climbing on top of the models’ heads like pompoms, it was really a line that was out of this world. Plus, even two kids made an adorable appearance sporting pint-sized versions from the collection. Perfect vibe and energy all around. fdmLOVES  opening ceremony presents WILLIAM OKPO spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
