CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

NYMD at NYFWM ss16 vol 2

Another round of wonderful menswear from New York Mens Day, presented during first NYFWM | CFDA ss16 shows just recently. Young spunk attitude aplenty, with various collections presented fusing redesigned classics with modern textures + patterns with an attitude. Twists of modern fabrics + young silhouettes added to the flavor of new we’re all craving in menswear.

Here’s a look at fresh ss16 menswear during NYMD from Fingers Crossed, Chapter, Kenneth Ning, Eponymovs by Hvrminn and Boyswear menswear ss16.   Favorite faces include Charlie James, Ben Jarvis, Noah Duran, Nyima Ward, Brandon Bailey, and Abiah Hostvedt.

FINGERS CROSSED
Inspired by Nick Cooper’s photography, the presentation from Fingers Crossed is full of texture, color and a decidedly free spirit—mismatched socks pair with satin belts draped to recall a necktie of sorts. Something of a fantastic cross between urban sportswear and traditional samurai silhouettes, sumptuous fabrics in deep jewel colors were accented by esoteric feeling symbols everywhere.

CHAPTER
Chapter’s woven tops and bomber jackets follow a square cut and are matched to more tailored drop crotch shorts and cropped pants in signature silhouettes with olive, plum, navy and lavender matched to black. Combined with drop shoulders, raw hemming and three quarter sleeves summer fabrics like linen, rayon and cotton are over dyed or tie-dyed to invoke atmospheric future forward but easy to wear pieces.

KENNETH NING
Distinctively rich embroideries define the presentation by Kennth Ning meant to “explore the balance between subversive youth culture and clean tailoring.” While looks in black and white dominated the collection, there is no shortage of color. This manifests itself proudly in a muted teal punctuated by green, bright yellow prints and lace graphic appliques.

EPONYMOVS BY HVRMINN
Expressed in long, lean and athletic silhouettes from the turn of the 20th century, the collection from Eponymovs matches high quality fabrics and fine tailoring with to an irrepressible 21st century zeitgeist. Double-breasted three piece suits that are at once super sexy and uber-masculine, as well as three quarter length jackets are geared for the gentleman who dares greatly.

BOYSWEAR
Boyswear’s vintage inspired prints and mesmerizing graphics in bold colors recall an idyllic and enchanted place found only in dreams. Looks included boxy silhouettes punctuated by Chinese tunic-esque long shirts and high waisted culottes cut mid-calf. The presentation spoke simply with no lack of force while keeping it playful and real. NYMD at NYFWM ss16 menswear vol 2 art direction + selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Charles Desselle.
