CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

NYFW young moderns

Emerging fresh is the cool chic for spring 2017 at NYFW. The troop of young designers flaunting creative freedom with modern silhouettes transformed our the runway view at a handful of venues all over the city.   Emerging names like Andrea Jiapei Li, Gentle Monster, Berenik, and Angelys Balek were just a few that got us wowed.  Pop, feminine, minimalistic, sheer, and layered silhouettes with attitude in hot colors were just a few of the details we loved.  Here’s a look at a few faves.

Andrea Jiapei Li is the epitome of utilizing unique silhouettes and fabric techniques to create beachy and sporty looks all while maintaining elegance and feminism. With inspiration stemming from the artistic Dada movement, Li’s designs portray inspiration from cubism, expressionism, and futurism. Like an easy, overcast day at the beach, Li’s new collection is more playful than ever before. By using comparably “cloudy” colors such as tan, olive, and lilac, this collection introduces a new, clean and mystical side to summer and spring collections.

Fresh, bold, and artsy are hardly enough to describe Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster. Twenty-four wow! sunnies and tinted glasses. The eye-catching set at the show had Olympic team fencers at work, sporting the oversized eyewear.  Electric blue lights cast down on cleanly dressed models and fencers, which created a futuristic look. Gentle Monster also collaborated with HBA Hood by Air during NYFW ss17.

With a digital cloudscape and modern fluid shapes, Berenik is on our radar for minimalistic summer cool kids. Beach-inspired colors like sand, dove grey, deep navy, black and dusty rose in unison with minimal styles remind us that simplu cut, wearable classics can be the way. The seemingly rebellious look was enhanced by the wild hair created by Laurent at Prive.   The rockstar bangs were a fave look on Justin Gossman,  The sweet dreamy ‘lay down’ finale of the show enhanced the mood in a peacefully alternative setting. @_berenik_.

Not all aspects of summer are pastel and calm, this was illustrated in IVY x  Angelys Balek’s spring 2017 collection “Full Moon.” Inspired by her homeland beaches in Thailand, Balek wanted to capture the fun and wild side of summer.  Set against the backdrop of the Highline Hotel, Balek creates flirty yet mysterious looks . From mini dresses to ethereal leggings, this collection shows the light in spring and summer that everyone desires. Favorites include the Maxi dresses with multicolor artsy patterns.
