The shows before the shows weds 9th

Wednesday warm up with Daniel Silverstain – stripes, squares, and rectangles in primary colors against black, white and sandy neutral tones. Off to the Baccarat Hotel for Kai Milla’s elegant more contemporary collection – refined pieces with clean lines had a very designer appeal, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Afterwards we dropped by a private residence for Tia Cibani’s ode to Brazil. A backdrop with lush plants showed off a breezy neutral vignette that transitioned elegant silhouettes in silk that got playful with rainbow colored stripes. We hit up the Public School x Cadillac Reveal Event and walked in the elevator champagne in hand just in time to cheers Sir Nick Wooster. Last stop, The Blonds x Rootstein unveiling and retrospective. Here’s to firsts.. celebrating with Phillipe Blond marking the first time one person inspired the company to create both female and male mannequins.

Official Day 1 thurs 10

Backstage at Nicholas K hair oil authority Macadamia Professional took to smoothing locks as stylist Giannandrea created a back knot. On the runway a collection of featherweight sport fabric evolved with the drape in perfect harmony. At the next stop, the Australian Women’s Wear show featured a collective of designers with RTW ranging from neoprene swimwear, and aboriginal silhouettes, to flowing dresses. A little color punched up Erin Fetherston’s sophisticated girl. The femme inspiration channeled Jane Birkin while the fabrication from lace to needle point was straight out of Anne of Avonlea. On to backstage access at Macy’s 30 Years of INC NYFW show, sponsored by Salon Grafix. Brand ambassador and supermodel Heidi Klum and campaign co-model Gabriel Aubrey came for a run through as the Salon Grafix team added extensions and styled the models in preparation. Over to Pier 59 for Mathieu Mirano who brought the splash of color burst back into the sparkle. At the next presentation we caught up w/ Gspot Nails backstage before checking out the elegant asian inspired fashions at Josie Natori. Thanks to the Totem PR gang we had Laurence + Chico SS16 on our radar. The design duo’s colorful creations were both clever and cool… these up and comers have got it going on. Artistically driven at Katya Leonovich the evening looks reflecting the theme of “bisected beauty.” The politically charged showing at Pyer moss incorporated spray paint, contrast banding in red, and a slightly deconstructed silhouette to get the message across. Back to the more conventional with classic brand Gant. One of our favorite guys Piero Mendez played coy before posing for a snap. We finished off the night at an event from our friends at tumblr. The platform hosted the unveiling of their “Print All Over Me” Artist Collaboration with projections, floating forms, and groovy tunes for dancin’ at Lightbox.#tumblrnyfw

Official Day 2 friday 11

Warm hello hugs backstage with designer Idan Cohen. On the runway sparkle meets sultry in a gorgeously girly yet grown up glitz. Next we interviewed a new designer on the the scene, Karina Gamez. She debuted her line Karigam with top models Jesicca Stam, Yumi Lambert, and Hilary Rhoda. Another young designer, Kathleen Kye rocked the pop flavor at Kye. The color mash-up and powerful juxtaposition toes the line between power and playfulness. We hooked up with Macadamia Professional backstage at Zang Toi’s  “Splendor of Santorini” collection where stylist Eiji Yamane created the “Straight and Narrow” hairstyle for the show. Rounding out the evening with a spotlight on a talented bunch of students at Academy of Art University that was enhanced by great casting with guys like Lucas and Marcel walking the show.

Official Day 3 saturday 12

Always edgy Skingraft gave us an up close and personal look with a presentation. The monotone nature of the clothes were in unique contrast to the model’s gold leaf painted hands. Just after we linked up label.m for all the details on backstage hair at Mara Hoffman. Long double braided styles were the brainchild of Stylist Nick Irwin and International Artistic Director, Richard Mannah. Off to Pier 59 Studios for Julianna Bass with sleek lines and hairdo’s to match, plus a few graphic splashes for pop. The show was followed by a presentation of  white hot geometric inspiration at Jay Godfrey. Another People’s Revolution special, designer Francesca Libertore drew in a crowd that featured Shawn Ross, Kelly Osbourne, and Nigel Barker front row. Gorgeous flowing pieces with artery themed prints, embellishments, and other ornamentation wowed.
