CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

McQueen Menswear spring 2014

Some runway shows transfix and teleport the viewer to another time. For the McQueen Menswear spring 2014 collection, designer Sarah Burton placed us all in a time machine with romantic fabrics and “castaway” chic pieces. It looks dramatically gorgeous and does not disappoint from beginning to end. So enchanting, that we held our breath with each new ensemble gracing the cobblestone runway…these outfits are full of passion.

The first few pieces feature scalloped lace that rivals the fabric of a wedding gown. The whites are paired with cream and black, showing that subtle colors can also make a statement. The magnificent prints on the long jackets and cropped pants can only be described as exquisite. The embroidered black flowers show so much magnificent skill. Suits are cut in such a way that resemble nautical androgyny. Giving off that “shipwrecked’ vibe, the fabric is bleached and faded, while the jacquards are frayed and brocade looks heavily worn. Even rusted buttons are scattered. Everyone is stranded on an island in the 18th century with this collection.

There’s so much romanticism encircling this line that it’s intoxicating. A McQueen show will never be just a show. It will always be an out-of-body experience that must be taken in deeply like the smoke of a cigarette. We’ll always be addicted. fdmLOVES MCQUEEN menswear spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
