MAXMARA spring 2013 Milan

Journey on an African adventure with safari-inspired MaxMara Spring Summer 2013. Harking back to their heritage, this season the brand looked at the Golden Age of “Made in Italy” for inspiration. The various silhouettes gave structure without all of the severity, providing the MaxMara woman more options for her days in the corporate jungle. Full shirts paired with hip-hugging pencil skirts shouted back to feminine sensibilities. Pumped up shoulders and sleeves seemed to blow in the wild winds of an unknown land by taking shape in organza and gazer materials.

Olympic necklines gave references to the athletic ease within the collection. The brand showed that everyday silhouettes still deserve high-quality fabrics since suede, silk and techno silk, and viscose comprised several pieces. You can be long+lean in a range of prints as a column of flowers gave a svelte illusion when placed alongside a cheetah background. Dare to be different with spring inspirations such as florals, taking a new approach when paired with militaristic influences.

This collection has a lovable look for each type of wearer, with everything from safari jackets to jumpsuits to tuxedos to trench coats making a fresh appearance. The Max Mara woman is not afraid to pair her city ready pieces with her fearless jungle prints, as moments of cheetah played with madras shirts+skirts. Tops complemented the bottoms as the minimalism on a chocolate brown striped cardigan was paired with cheetah open-toe clogs.Tan hues provided chic continuity, while the various cuts gave a sharp statement. The warm, soothing to icy cold shades gave plenty of range for the spring/summer 2013 woman, from beige, tan, tobacco, camel, earth to various shades of blue. Fearless, yet fun accessories surfaced such as thick-heeled clogs in alligator and in pony or animal print details. Inspired by the first design conjured by Max Mara, the contoured mega-sized tortoise shell spectacles cooled off the hot looks. Add a hint of print to any look with the array of handbags, such as multi-colored small bon ton leather bags, maxi wild Boston bags in total fur, smooth nappa leather, and stamped crocodile. As the collection concluded, the entrance of sheer+opaque gowns reminded audiences of the boldness of black. Whether braving the city or the safari, Max Mara Spring/Summer 2013 shows you can conquer anything. Written by Mary Anderson. fdm selects from the runway by Brigitte Segura.
