Mary Katrantzou Spring 2014 LFW
The print queen is back and she continues to awe us with her mind-boggling realism. Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2014 collection is all the buzz in London, and it’s easy to see why. Look as menswear shoes come alive on short dresses and florals pop with vivacity and allure. We don’t know how she does it, but she truly has the gift of bringing pictures and everyday objects to life on clothing.
We applaud her innovativeness and obvious talent. It’s such a delight to see what she turns out every season!
This designer must’ve taken a trip to a shoe department because men’s sneakers, brogues and evening footwear are placed all over these womenswear pieces. They’re so adorable as 3D effects were also entwined to become rubber and Velcro straps on these printed shoes. She placed these photographic prints on jackets, shorts and too cute bustier dresses. It’s so so clever and obviously not an easy trick of the trade. Katrantzou has made these printed looks become somewhat of a trademark for her, and she just gets it. Never turning out something overdone, these colorful images bring a basic short dress to life.
Along with the shoes, she also delicately placed flowers upon springtime frocks that are perfect for an English garden party. A teapot and biscuits would accent these looks flawlessly. Her shoes are also divine, as they often accent the above looks, sometimes also incorporating matching prints. Such a knockout. Unique enough that you won’t see yourself twice but versatile enough for any girl to rock. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store. fdmLOVES MARY KATRANTZOU spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
