Mary Katrantzou Resort 2014
For being her first Resort collection ever, Mary Katrantzou presented a mesmerizing 2014 collection. There’s positively colors everywhere, and all pieces together look like a vibrant rainbow. Too busy? No way! This is such a unique set that features prints that are a collection of postcards from around the world and the designer’s own photographs. High-rise apartments in Sao Paulo, French flower fields, a Japanese bridge, the Swiss Alps and many more gorgeous photographs are all printed on these girly silhouettes. Her traveling memories have become reality again.
Each piece tells a story. The towering apartment print stands out the most, as it’s placed the most throughout the line. It elongates the model’s legs on the trousers and looks like a magical modern painting. The gorgeous water scene sweatshirt looks so life-like that you might try to take a dip. The yellow flower print also stands out. It’s the most vibrant shade of yellow that’s not mimicked…these are nature’s true colors. Every piece here is like a love story to traveling. This is a set for anyone who has wanderlust. It’s a trip around the world in clothing.
Feminine skirts and flowy dresses look sharp and ideal for holding such magnificent photographs. The playsuits, sweatshirts and biker jackets are fun and sharp. Looking a little closer, one can see that there are even dazzling embellishments carefully placed throughout. Sequins are situated on top of flowers for a sparkling explosion, while some cut-out squares are on the apartment building windows. These are small details that show the designer’s vast imagination.
