MARNI AW13 Milan Fashion Week
Designer Consuelo Castiglioni found the perfectly balanced point between focused and undefined for MARNI Fall 2013. Front row was packed with some of the industry’s most influential people including Net-a-Porter’s Natalie Massenet and Holli Rogers, Glamour’s Anne Christensen, Editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan Anna Dello Russo, and Diesel’s Renzo Rosso who recently acquired a majority stake in the brand.
A somber tone set to a backdrop of dark trees provided an expressive scene for the seriously romantic collection. Dominated by black, charcoal, deep blue, and grey, streamlined silhouettes are feminine but not frilly skirted either above or below the knee. Prints are mostly graphic in black and white and/or featuring landscapes in multiple colorways. Coats are a little boxier and sculptural elements by way of leather yielded dimension while the ‘fuzzy’ batch added major volume.
Knee-high boots or flats with metallic tipped toes complimented the fashions, as did leather gloves and bags. Side-swept bangs and glossy hair (a major trend at the Milan shows) and make up by Tom Pecheux for MAC completed the look with a dignified presence. fdm loves Marni AW13 Milan selects by Brigitte Segura, Written by Sarah Freiseis.
