Mara Hoffman Swim 2013

The Mara Hoffman Resort 2013 Swimwear “Desert Outlaw Gypsies” show merges myth with reality for a stellar result. Reality reveals itself through the designer’s studies of native tribes across the globe, letting attention-grabbing prints jolt you to another world. Fill in the blanks with funky cutouts on high waisted bottoms, bandeaus, and on lattice one-pieces (pair with any other poolside piece for a new look). Clever coverups ranged from flowing see-through sand hues to formfitting kaleidoscope prints; their light fabric is perfect for relaxing beachside or for midnight strolls on the boardwalk in slinky maxi-dresses to Snake-printed slouch trousers.

Not afraid to break tradition, Mara Hoffman brought hot, new swimwear silhouettes to her collection such as braided back-straps on one-pieces and bandeaus to basket-weaved back halter tops-just to name a few. Always beating to her own drum, Mara created original eye-catching prints that played with striking solids, continuing the fantasy in her iconic tribal themed collections: a new Snake print, coral and violet- Frida, stone | blue- Electric Casino, navy|black-Psychic Readings, Nomad & Nomad Voile, red | white-Pow Wow, turquoise |pink-Feather.  Her trademark swimwear pieces made a comeback such as the tie-side looks and V-wire pieces. New met the old (old west that is) with heavy metal jewelry by Pamela Love, Billy Short boots by The Frye Company, and a variety of the designer’s accessories like soft, super sized sarongs in Powwow and Nomad prints, Fringe canvas totes, a Nomad print scarf bag, and a Pow Wow vinyl tote. Carefree waves completed the looks thanks to Nick Irwin for Catwalk by TIGI, while makeup provided an edge by Lottie for Make Up Forever. Models teased viewers as they left the runway with feather tattoos by Cindy Dalagelis on the back of their calves that’ll remind you of the designer’s own symbol. With all these lovable looks, sun safety is still a priority as models stomped down catwalk wearing Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion sunscreen. Brave the waves and enjoy the summer breeze with the new Mara Hoffman swimwear.
