Mara Hoffman‘s inspiration for her ss16 came from a rather unexpected fashion icon: Willie Nelson. His rendition of “Blue Skies” set the collection’s tone and, most notably, his signature dual-braid served as a uniform hairstyle throughout the colorful collection.
Classic Americana motifs permeated the collection. Blue skies, stars, stripes, rainbow prints and oversized florals took form in breezy linen and flowing maxi dresses, completed with a matching headscarf and braids.
Behind the scenes backstage, we got a glimpse at the how to get the braids look. label.m creative Nick Irwin used the brand’s Volume Mousse to prep the models’ hair and Wax Stick to give the braids a sleek look. The secret behind the uniform look? 30″ extensions were sewn in to each models hair.
Natural looking makeup was a perfect accent to the collection’s vibrant, Earthy looks. Overall, the vibe was laid back in Mara Hoffman effortless style.
