MANGO at 080 Barcelona Fashion
Layering without weighing you down was the focus of MANGO 2013 at 080 Barcelona Fashion. Featured at the historic Palau de Pedralbes for the Barcelona shows, MANGOs pieces-from military jackets to evening suits- demonstrated how classics stand the test of time. A youthful edge was added to their rich textures and fabrics, with the abundance of animal prints and fuzzy textures parading down the runway. An acid purple militaristic jacket popped over midnight-blue pipe-leg jeans- giving a twist to tradition and showing how closet staples shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
The flowing feel of the collection, from the fabric to the tresses, completed the laid-back looks. Guys loosened up too-as a velvet tuxedo jacket [worn by Jon Jon Kortajarena] and bow-tie was given a younger touch with ankle-grazing slim trousers. The infinity scarves linked the girl and guy looks, with a toned-down, fur and knit style for men, while a mohair version for ladies pushed their pieces full-throttle. Crisp whites were suitable for everyday and evening occasions: A white blazer topped a breezy shirt and metallic gunmetal jeans, while for night the jacket adorned a deep v-neck Grecian gown. Seamlessly incorporating serious pieces with punch, MANGO demonstrated how to unite business with pleasure. Written by Mary Anderson.
