Maintaining your catwalk style for fall

Even if you know very little about fashion you’re likely to have heard the phrase “catwalk style” bandied around by now… Obviously a catwalk style is one that wouldn’t look out of place on the runways of New York, Paris and Milan: a look that closely follows the latest trends. Despite how it sounds, catwalk style can be achieved without breaking the bank if your budget is limited.

Keeping up with the latest trends (on a budget)

To keep on top of the latest trends this fall be sure to keep your wits about you. Look at styles in magazines and online fashion blogs, and check out the latest looks and store window displays.

Fashion: The best way to keep your wardrobe on trend is to buy a few key items and dress them up with great accessories. This means you don’t end up with items you’ll never wear and you’ll be able to keep things fresh and funky as needed. Choose sizes and cuts that flatter your figure and make the most of what you have instead of  using clothes to cover it up. Looking great is one thing, but putting yourself under financial strain in order to do so just isn’t worth it.

Hair: Catwalk style isn’t just about what you wear, but your whole appearance, from head to toe. Healthy looking hair is just as important as the threads you wear and has the added bonus of feeling as good as it looks. Natural hair growth supplements, such as Healthy Hair by Elan Veda, can be a great way of keeping your locks in check without breaking the bank. There are numerous products available to help you achieve the look you want in achieving your ‘signature’ hair look.

Makeup: Makeup and the way it’s applied can completely transform your look and shouldn’t be used to simply hide any flaws. Make the most of the features you love by trying out different colors and techniques. Daytime makeup should be natural and understated, enabling you to go a little bolder for your evening style. The ‘smoky eye’ is a look that never goes out of style, while a bold lip color can really enhance your face.  Most importantly, though, be sure to take care of your skin with a strict regime of cleansing, toning and moisturizing- and drink a lot of water. This will help keep your skin healthy and your makeup looking its best.

Walk the walk…

If you want to walk the walk as well as you rock the look, don’t forget that posture is absolutely key; you could have the clothes from Naomi Campbell’s back and a makeover from the pages of Vogue, but if you hunch over no one will be able to see how fabulous you truly are. When showing off the latest catwalk trends it’s important to hold your head high, keep your arms relaxed and take long strides. You’ll look elegant and exude confidence- a winning combo.

Make sure you keep up with the latest trends and don’t be afraid to try new things by mixing it up in your wardrobe; keep a few classic items with great cuts  in your closet and create fabulous new looks with a series of accessories and smaller items.  Go a little bolder with the fashionable choices you make, and take care of yourself. Catwalk style is about how you look and feel… Maintaining your catwalk style this fall commentary by Sarah Freiseis.
