CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Made Menswear Spotlight Spring 2014

Milk Studios housed an array of shows and presentations for Spring 2014. One particularly memorable evening stacked the deck with a full house of hunks. Several designers unveiled their latest collections in separate spaces during the same time block as a part of the Made fashion week series in New York including Carlos Campos, Lucio Castro, Rochambeau, and En Noir.

This particular medley of mens has become one of our favorite stops during NYFW… and this season the timing later in the day was perfect for a Sunday flavor.

The crowds navigated from room to room to glimpse some of the hottest styles for guys of the season. We started things off backstage at Carlos Campos with the handsome (and very kind) Alex Kuhna in hair and make-up. Casually fresh and clean with clean lines and a mostly white and blue color palette. After post model catch-up we stuck around to take in the attractive scene before the room was flooded with attendees.

We entered at Lucio Castro to see a rotating display of cool guys in clever clothes. From clean shaven suave to neatly groomed with an alternative vibe, the casting delivered the goods with ease. Appealing to several categories the look lends itself to a spectrum of male dressing ranging from shorts, to suits, to sweaters, somewhere in the middle they meet with blended modernity. Ready to wear in the spotlight or behind the scenes the designer got inspired with put together practicality.

Label Rochambeau hit the mark on and off the court slam-dunk style with athletic inspired street wear. Inspiration drawn from Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson for inspiration, and other sport notables, designers Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler offered up looks incorporating game and uniform elements from baseball, football and boxing like laced and padded components. Oversized and exaggerated details gave way to the right amount of bagginess.

On to the dark and smoky filled drama at En Noir. Models were scattered about a mysterious landscape complete with one of our favorites Willy Cartier posed on a peak. Designer Rob Garcia offered up a combination of artsy and active. Intriguing prints complemented in blocked display or as an all over. Fabrication choices helped to develop the look with sophistication in using leather and suede, adding a little oomph with metallics. Believe it or not we even managed to get a closer look at some of the detailing thanks to a little rock climbing for some video coverage.

Staying on the scene by keeping track of the latest in who, what, when, and where – man oh man do we have an eye for the menswear pulse. fdmLOVES MADE MENSWEAR SPRING 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah A. Freiseis.
