Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring 2014
Refined and road trip ready is the man at Louis Vuitton spring 2014. Taking every type of guy along for the ride means a collection of Americana references tastier than apple pie. Even though he’s exploring the US, you can’t take the French out of the guys, and style director Kim Jones brings those suave sensibilities into the driver’s seat ! Slightly tongue in cheek, pairing all-American styles with a lux approach.
Cleverly layering scout jackets over suits shows a new, younger side of the spring 2014 man. Silk letterman jackets with jumbo “V” patches and blousons with the logo emblazoned on the back are mixed with tailored trousers in muted plaid. Red bandanas tied around the neck unite cowboy roughness to the suiting’s Parisian cool. Even a hippie or two is in attendance, as the series of blue patchwork tops and tie dye coats provide a blast to the past.
Somewhere along the journey the LV man takes a rest stop, returning to the classics that he knows so well. As a neon red coat is still eye-catching with its sleek European silhouette, and a turn from the boxier stateside shapes. Closing the collection with a bevy of bow ties on a candy color spectrum of suits, this season’s man is the king, of the Homecoming court !
