London Menswear exclusives from JW Anderson and Christopher Raeburn

Anglomaniacs, rejoice ! Mr. Porter heads over the pond to swinging London town for The British Issue. This week’s mag features pieces from a trio of hot, fresh English designers. Agi & Sam, J.W. Anderson, and Christopher Raeburn, were selected to create three exclusive collections for Mr. Porter, who also sponsors the London Collections: Men. These guys describe the ups and downs, along with what inspired their  capsule collections.

For Mr. Porter, designers  Agi Mdumulla and Sam Cotton focus on old meets new, with a English twist of course. The duo Agi & Sam worked from the king of tailoring himself, Alexander McQueen, and were also awarded the coveted ss14 sponsorship, NEWGEN MEN. Their split panel tshirts and button downs with a splash of print breaks down the closet staple into something modern. Their slim fit houndstooth check wool blazer looks classic and cool when paired with blue jeans. The Lord of Bath versus country gent look doesn’t clash, instead offering a dose of nostalgia into the mix. With these pieces, they’ll surely make their mentor, Sir Paul Smith, proud.

When not designing with Donatella Versace for Versus, the London College of Fashion grad Jonathan Anderson uses his love for sharp silhouettes and fresh fabrics for his own namesake label. Jumping off from his fw13 collection, J.W. Anderson gives an array of eye catching and quirky pieces. Jumbo scissors splattered across a knit sweater offers a new look to the everyday. An anatomical heart plastered onto a cotton and jersey looks fresh when outlined in yellow and blue.  While his anchor logo is the hot ticket, as we’re sure it will be recognized beyond the British borders.

Royal College of Art alumnus Christopher Raeburn has collabs with Moncler and Victorinox under his belt. That explains his stellar outerwear offerings for Mr. Porter that are both durable and dashing ! Taken from military fabrics, Raeburn wants his guys to wear the real deal without being weighed down. Meaning a wool bomber coat in Hainsworth, who makes the Brit military uniforms for ceremonies. Next, a limited edition Remade in England water resistant jacket in Gore-tex, (aka sleeping bag cover material) and Italian fabrics. While the last look is a featherlight navy bomber jacket made from, you guessed it, parachutes ! Raeburn has his guys ready for duty, ok well, maybe just those London rainshowers. fdmLOVES The Brits are Coming ! Mr. Porter London menswear selects by Brigitte Segura, Written by Mary Anderson.
