Lacoste Fall 2013 backstage and runway

Bring out your inner explorer!  LACOSTE just hit their 80th Anniversary, and creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista made a mark for Fall Winter 2013 . This collection transformed tradition by going wisely back to their 20’s era beginnings. Simply see the brand’s innovator René Lacoste, and the way he took tennis out of constricting blazers and into the classic polo with the help of the piqué fabric within L.12.12.  L is for Lacoste, 1 means petit piqué texture, 2 represents the brands short-sleeved top, while the label went through 12 trials to finally create the Lacoste polo.

Using  past fabrications such as cotton canvas, double-faced wool, mohair, knits, and boiled wool became even fresher by taking primary iridescent hues such blue, orange, and green, and calming them with hunter greens, grays, and whites. Mysterious iceberg and topographic map prints slid across the hems of several looks, making the foggy “desert of ice” exploration inspiration definitely into an etherial setting we would want to visit. There was a boxy silhouette for both guys and gals, but the female form demonstrated how to show a little leg while braving the wintery elements.

Cool gray was placed center stage for fall/winter 2013, while pops of orange peeking through the turtlenecks and sharp collars allowed the eye-catching hue to stand as a friendly sidekick to the soothing undertones. The season sustained their minimalist attitude but the powerhouse volumes and hues definitely pushed it up a level. Full shoulders added intense volume for womenswear, while tapering off at the knee with the skirting; Overall creating a slight curve that still provides movement for the modern lady.Thick piping in contrasting hues outlined the form without needing tight, restricting fabrics. Our favorite boy eye candy walking the lacoste fall runway include Baptiste Radufe and Clement Chabernaud.

Seduction into the structure was brought through thanks to a moment of mesh-netting underneath a tight turtleneck. For outerwear, translucent jackets allowed the underlying layers to shine through (while still getting the added bonus of functionality). Even windbreakers became showstoppers by adding a removable lining that can stand alone within a look, revealing the season’s smart style. Fall Winter showcased top-to-bottom color coverage, while subtle prints added interest to the durable outerwear. At the collection’s conclusion, leathers looked even more luxe once zippers entered the equation. Already conquered eight decades, Lacoste has their fall winter conquerer ready for anything. fdmLOVES selects from LACOSTE fall 2013 runway by Brigitte Segura, written by Mary Anderson.
