CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

KATYA LEONOVICH spring 2013

Showing again at a Mercedes Benz Fashion Week venue, young designer Katya Leonovich hailing from Moscow continues to make an impression with industry insiders in New York, and worldwide. Having made a debut with a breakout bridal collection in 2011, the influence of fine fabrics and feminine touches continues for spring 2013 season with a little more oomph.

Fluid in its entirety, the line-up boasted a number of prints including a large scale floral, body outline in grey + white, and an abstract swirling motif. Butterfly sleeves, asymmetrical piecing, and cut-outs defined the dresses as unique while accentuating the beauty of the form. Interestingly structured pieces also offered up distinctive components like laser cut hand painted leathers and beige metallic jacquard mixed with python in paneling or full on in Bermuda shorts. A few damsel meets mischievous maven moments in black with sheer elements and skirted in frilly tiers. In a political face-off, presidential candidates Obama and Romney had their likeness portrayed on the final two pieces that closed the show.

The overall look was completed with some help from stylist Rashad Webb, Make-up by Mizu for Maybeline Japan, and hair by Jordan M. with Bumble and bumble. Accessories like standout headbands by Jenny Dayco ornamented the more simply decorated silhouettes, while colorful platforms by Andrew Kayla accented, and jewelry from Stella Valle appropriately furthered the intention of expression.
