KATYA LEONOVICH fall 2013 NYFW
The rush fashion week brings us is one that can only be topped with the incredible artistry of the clothing that is presented by the 90-plus designers that work hours on end to create the looks on the runway. Romantic designer Katya Leonovich brought her 2013 Fall Collection to life, at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week runway at Lincoln Center on February 9, 2013. Leonovich added an edgy dynamic with a little eccentricity into her runway looks.
Draped fabrics in a somber palette resembled a dreamy, swampy night, with colors ranging from midnight blues, dreary grays, and vibrant blacks to moss-like greens and opaque browns, flowing gently highlighting the female-figure. The Dresses in her fall collection captured her signature dreamy feminine appeal using many textures which were made to depict a three-dimensional perspective, allowing the fabric to create shadowing within the layers.
Leonovich definitely took a bold approach to her creation, not shy of using the daring dynamics of leather and plume, and tying her collection together in black, patent leather sky-high stilettos. Her multi-cultural perspective adds a distinguishable quality to her collections we just can’t get enough of. Winner of the Mittelmodal Prize, Smirnoff International Competition, the Nadejda Lamanova Prize of the Russian Federation and Supima’s inaugural Competition for Emerging Designers, Leonovich’s development of her artistry was rooted from her travels though various cities, (Paris, Rome and Moscow) that inspired her to create the dynamic designs for her collections. fdmLOVES KATYA LEONOVICH fall 2013 selects by Brigitte Segura, Written by Julia Paulescu.
