CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Jerri Moore spring 2013

The Jerri Moore ss13 collection was a shout-out from the classic screen sirens to the Southern Belles.  Ready-to-wear is her new playground, as she took drama silhouettes into daytime looks (so you style seekers don’t have to wait till nightfall to standout).  Forming softly-draped structures, our favorite dresses and jackets were made a distressed-metallic coated silk that looked like worn leather, with simple necklines designed to show off  ‘the jewels’.

Jerri shares with us at Fashion Houston 2012: “I just really wanted to keep it fresh and modern, even with the make-up. I wanted to create a dress that you will still wear and love ten years from now.  I pay close attention to keeping clean lines around the neck that pop with heightened accessories. That’s what women who buy my looks are searching for:  something that can showcase their high-end jewels… and yes, Houston women love their jewelry too..”

The collection crossed color and texture barriers without hesitation, with a see-thru button-down trailing into a floor-sweeping train.   An ode to 80’s cheetah print appeared here and there for JM’s global glamour girl for spring 2013.  “My favorite part of the collection is choosing the fabrics. It goes two ways: Sometimes I pick the fabric and know exactly what the dress should look like while other times it’s reverse.”

We caught up backstage with Neal Hamil, creative director of Fashion Houston, who shared with us: “Jerri Moore really knows how to be alluring and I think her clothes are extremely appealing.”

After starting designing gowns for herself, catching the eye of socialites and party-goers, Jerri was inspired her to kick off her own brand, and debuted at Fashion Houston 2011 as “Emerging Designer.”  Taking a closer look at the collection and touching the pieces, we were dazzled by Moore’s sophisticated understanding of fabrications in union with flattering silhouettes.   A detail that many new designers miss in the excitement of “putting on a show.” This lady knows what a woman wants to wear, and what she wants to display… and that’s a winning start. Commentary: Brigitte Segura.  Written by Mary Anderson.
