CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

J.W. Anderson Menswear spring 2014

Gender roles are blurred in the J.W. Anderson Menswear spring 2014 collection. Designer Jonathan Anderson is one of the most ambitious young creators in the fashion industry right now, and he did not disappoint with this androgynous assortment of truly memorable pieces. And really, who says that menswear always has to be masculine? That’s the beauty of fashion in the first place. Anything goes!

All 30 ensembles include oversized black pants that glisten in movement. The tops are the most dramatic parts of these outfits though. The designer put a lot of focus on a man’s neckline, with many long tunics tying right under the chin and dangling in the back like tails. With Anderson’s Resort line, we saw futuristic arm restraints that were also highlighted in this menswear set. The models look ready for a battle on the runway with fierce protective shields. Some even look like giant origami pieces that grew and came to life.

Some tops look like halters with very slight silhouettes…even see-through tanks are included. Colors stay consistently neutral with a few red and yellow surprises among the black, white and tan shades. This very special collection is an ode to the male physique. No playing it safe here, this line will continue to cause buzz. Gutsy and imaginative fdmLOVES J.W. ANDERSON menswear spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
