HOUGHTON BRIDAL cool fall 2015
This collection makes a cool girl embrace wedding bells again. Tradition is a thing of the past with the Houghton Bride fw 2015 collection. Equipped with crystals, tulle, and ruffles, this collection is a brave and modern outlook on bridal wear. Minimalistic design and silhouettes kept the looks sleek, while metallics and silk ruffles made were a fun touch. The rock and roll attitude is what got our attention, and our editor Brigitte’s fave was the pouf skirt layered over sleek pants worn by model Cristina Piccone, why not.. check out some of our live shots here.
If there’s any doubts about the impact of this collection, try naming one thing cooler than bridesmaids wearing fuzzy lined leather jackets to layer over the long dresses. Bridal white and ivory pieces were clean, and paired with T’s and not so stuffy other pieces, the bridal skirt was a standout. The silhouettes were straightforward, with many of the looks having a defined waistline. It was the ruffles and tulle that added the fun to the collection, especially a piece with a detachable tulle skirt layered over silk romper. Swarovski crystals graced the textures of intricate, hand embroidered fabrics imported from India and Switzerland.
The collection was edgy with pink strappy heels, bell sleeved dresses and tools, and the cream of the crop ivory leather jackets to layer a cool on the ruffled layers. Check out the cool hair – no updo needed here. And who wrote the rule that bridal had to be stuffy. Designer Katharine Polk gets a hi-5 from us again.
