CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI haute couture fall 2013

Hello there, gorgeous! Giambattista Valli‘s Haute Couture Fall 2013 collection is so sweet, it hurts. Backdropped in cream, the designer’s poppy colors stand out brightly against the frosting-like hue. Everything practically “dings” like a set of fine China. In fact, Valli was inspired by the finest four European porcelain makers around. Italy’s Capodimonte, France’s Sèvres, Germany’s Meissen and England’s Wedgwood are all delicately represented in many of these looks. Dresses resemble walking teacups with these proper prints and details. Too cute.

Wasp-waist coats and dresses are the looks, in particular, that hold these porcelain designs. Flowers like magnolias and hydrangeas lay prettily on the sleeves and waistlines of short dresses. Evening gowns and even capes all hold some lovely detail. Timeless Chantilly lace and silk feel new here on different silhouettes. Pouffy skater skirts and round-shaped peplums are so girlish and adorable. Don’t be fooled though! There are some sexy gowns in this mix, including a green and purple sheer number that’s half sophistication half sex appeal. Another, white, black and red looks like it slinks with ease. The winner is the sunshine yellow high-low gown that’s breathtaking. It’s long train makes it a possible wedding gown for an unconventional bride. There’s also an equally gorgeous white counterpart.

Red rose accents on a few gowns look freshly picked from a garden. White short dresses with feathery detailing could have been taken straight out of the ‘Swan Lake’ ballet. Volume is ever-present, but nothing gets over-the-top. High drama with taste…Valli’s kind of charm. fdmLOVES GIAMBATTISTA VALLI haute couture fall 2013 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa
