CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Fide Fashion Week highlights | Singapore Luxury Style

Fide is known for bringing luxury, lifestyle and fashion events to life, staking a claim to fame with the second year of orchestrating Fide Fashion Week in Singapore.   China’s Guo Pei, kicked of the Fide Fashion Week with ornate extravagance. Her dedication to the craft is powerful and the impact was felt in each piece as it transcended with poise down the runway with a sculpted symbolic dragon as the backdrop.

In a video exclusive interview,  she revealedher most beloved look of the season, a petaled gown in gold that was eight years in the making with a combined 50,000 man hours involved. The embroidered panels are detailed to perfection; together with the craftsmanship of the structure of the result is absolutely stunning.

Draped drama all the way at Barney Cheng (Hong Kong). Pleated for form at the bust, and elegantly flowing, some lengthy numbers were memorable in a jewel toned palette.  Embellished details enhanced the romance factor in floral patterns and all-over beading, keeping it cool with a scultpted edge.

Asava by Polpot Asavaprapa of Thailand proved to be the cat’s meow for the modern Madame. Quite literally, knit caps with kitty cat ears, topped off the stylishly pieced ensembles. Raglan sleeves, banding, and high-waisted bottoms combined for a cool collection of silhouettes. Yellow, pink and blue against basic elements of white, black, and khaki where mixed and matched in a very real world way.

Standout veteran designer Junko Shimada is Japan’s most established couturier. Her collection included layers of lux fabrics styled with a chic playfulness. From discreet sheers to wild prints in leopard and a slightly more muted peacock and then back to lame, there’s a lot of attitude in this wardrobe. She exclaimed in the interview that she is, “all about color and happiness,” explaining how those two elements of inspiration create an eternal spirit that evokes a sense of mind over matter in terms of age appropriate dressing and the graceful transition from one chapter to the next.

Yumi Katsura, also of Japan, presented a fantastic fairy tale, glowing with feminine flair. A water-colored wow in fine layers of asymmetrically tiered hems and delicately detailed beading paired with capes, and as with many of the, showcasing over the top head pieces for added value. The floral photo prints were showstoppers – fusing new world techniques, with old world ideals. One by one, ruffled, and beautifully ornamented gowns emerged, each uniquely beautiful as if princesses arriving a ball.

Other designers showing include Bold Ochirjantsan, Mongolian Couture designer of the label Torgo, and Somarta by Tamae Hirokawa (Japan). The first highlighting traditional eastern costuming in a boldly modern way, and the later spinning a western twist on elements of kimono-eque silhouettes with graphic all-over prints and patterned embroidery and knit elements in easy style. So much talent, so little time. Just a capsule of coverage that included the most revered French and Asian labels/designers during featured collections debuting during the fashion filled week. This season,  social media helped enable international awareness of Fide Fashion Week | Singapore,  with shared imagery released of the amazing creations.   For more details, check out the video series of interviews, hosted by Jeannie Mai, star of Style Network‘s How Do I Look.
