CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

FASHION x ART : “by RE:QUEST” curated by Diego Cortez

An artsy collab: RE:QUEST Model Management, known for their edgy models and Clic Gallery present “by RE:QUEST,” a group show curated by Diego Cortez. Diego, an internationally-renowned curator whose seminal 1981 show “New York/New Wave” at P.S. 1 helped introduce artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring to the art world and has since become known as the “Armory Show of the Eighties.” The show will feature artists + models including our fave boy Willy Cartier , opening May 12th through May 26 at Clic Gallery.

RE:QUEST  has been known for their fresh approach in model development and pushing the fashion boundaries since 2000.  “by RE:QUEST” serves as yet another creative and powerful redefinition of the agency vision supporting models and their collaborators- and we’re all about that.

The collected work will range from ethereal photography and candid drawings to energetic collages. “Breaking the stereotype of the superficiality of fashion and their mannequins, this exhibition reveals artistic and conceptual depths,” says Cortez.  Accomplished artists whose work will be featured in the upcoming group show  (from their model roster) include: David Agbodji, Cole Mohr, David Alexander Flinn, Eliza Douglas, Mateus Lages, Tara Sereda, Rivers Plasketes, and Ira Chernova. Featured artists working with the agency will also be showcased including Stefani Pappas, Samuel Zakuto, Melissa Ling, and (a recent) fdmLOVES fave, Marco Torres.

“by RE:QUEST” marks the gallery début of Noel, who says of the exhibition, “Along with Diego Cortez and RE:QUEST Model Management, I am pleased to present this first installation of works by a group of leading young RE:QUEST models and other artists we intend to nurture and develop. From creating their art in the streets, their apartments and studios, and oftentimes the modeling agency itself, all the artists offer the viewer both an intricate and bold look into their individual worlds, which span the divides between photography, drawing, and painting.”

Noel favors a comparison of this uniquely edgy and contemporary approach to a “tattooed arm with a Rolex on it…” –  and that sounds like something I would say, and definitely our kind of coolish eye candy. – Brigitte Segura.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a limited-edition zine (1,000 copies), by RE:QUEST, featuring exclusive work in addition to the art featured in the exhibition is available at Clic.
