Fashion for Action: Housing Works 2013
FEEL- GOODs: the Housing Works‘ 10th Annual Fashion for Action Opening Night Reception was an exceptional time as anticipated! Held just before Thanksgiving, the mood was welcoming and everyone was having a marvelous time. 600 of the most fashionables in NYC wined and snaked for the sake of giving back. This charity event took place throughout five days and hosted a number of exciting activities all beneficial to the cause.
Fashion Daily Mag was also in the mix at this event. Our Editor in Chief, Brigitte Segura, caught up with designers Costello Tagliapietra, Malan Breton, and few other fashionables in the mix. Everyone was chatting fashion, and even trying to “style” one another, encouraging the “yes” to the special pieces found by Dirk Bikkembergs, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs,Tom Ford, and so many more.
Co-Chairs Patricia Clarkson (Actress), Michael Carl (Vanity Fair), Asher Levine (Fashion designer) and Natalie Joos (Stylist), were also at the event to rally the fashion community in the fight against AIDS and homelessness in New York. More in the mix included Yuval David (ABC’s “What Would You Do?”), Ashlee White (“Princesses of Long Island”) Alex McCord, and Barbet Smith (“Million Dollar Shoppers”).
Proceeds raised contributed to the funds for Housing Works’ HIV-positive transgender clients, which actually took place on Transgender Remembrance Day. Fashion for Action was an absolute success, and the gratifying feeling of giving back to those in need in a warm fashion filled enviroment heightened the experience, especially with the authentic New York vibe ever so present.
Those who missed the event were invited to shop and contribute to a worthy cause, with a Public Designer Sale which took place for 4 days after the event at Housing Works Chelsea Thrift Shop.Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Their mission is to end the problems of homelessness and AIDS. They further these efforts with unyielding advocacy, the providing of lifesaving services, and support from entrepreneurial business that sustain their efforts.
