CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

ELLERY ss16 PFW

Modern Chic is fluid and fashion forward at E L L E R Y for ss16, shown during Paris Fashion Week. The super clean lines and minimalistic yet grand details are prominent in the collection.  Oversized eyelet hardware details offset the more abundant than usual scaled details this season.

Designer Kim Ellery’s point of inspiration was the ‘Wrapped Coast’ … the Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s 1969 project in Little Bay, Sydney.

“To me great artworks embody beauty. This work, entitled ‘Wrapped Coast’ by Christo and Jeanne-Claude defines what beauty is to me. It’s in the concept. The scale. The human ambition. The journey. The temporary nature of the work and the visual joy I experience when seeing this familiar Australian landscape repackaged so profoundly”, Kym Ellery said of her inspiration.

For the Spring ’16 collection curtained panels, volume, metal embellishments all nod to the great artwork in a playful yet elegant manner.  Tailoring is amplified with deconstructed peplums while gathered sleeves loosely veil the arm creating a silhouette that feels new.  The crisp shirts make an appearance, with fresh ruched and layered details. Textures are ‘illustrious and highly tactile’  with fabrications including digitally printed silk velvet, and crocheted bouclé cotton.  A soft and muted color palette with taupes, ivory and pale blue andbursts of pink, gunmetal and rust.

Light and feminine yet anchored in the androgynous, Spring ’16 sees .  E L L E R Y offers a modern woman the CHIC for warm weather.  ELLERY ss16 PFW commentary and selects by Brigitte Segura.
