El Museo 2015 Gala highlights

Catching up: Just recently, El Museo Del Barrio held its annual spring gala for 2015 honoring Yolanda Santos, Lisa Garcia Quiroz, and Eugenio López Alonso. The celebration this year was held at the Plaza Hotel, with a theme inspired by the aesthetics of Black and White movies. Setting the stage for the Gala, Ladies dressed in black and white with gloves and veils.

The official Milliner of the Gala was hat designer Patricia Underwood, who designed + custom made numerous veils for the ladies attending the El MUSEO GALA 2015.

This year’s Gala borrowed its aesthetic themes from El Museo ́s current exhibition, which explores the work and legacy of Mexican cinematographer, Gabriel Figueroa. The event was designed by Jeronimo Gaxiola and featured a multidisciplinary performance by Erika Harrsch in collaboration with singer Magos Herrera. An emotional appeal was led by Sotheby’s, Gabriela Palmieri, and the Gala raised 1 million dollars for the museum!

El Museo del Barrio, the nation’s leading Latin American museum, is knownfor its wide-ranging collections, groundbreaking exhibitions, complementedby film, literary, visual and performing arts series, cultural celebrations, and educational programs. This spring the museum showcases Mexican art and culture in grand cinematic style. Our editor Brigitte caught up with the fabulous ladies and gents in the glorious setting at the Plaza hotel, set with chandeliers and ornate details.  Starting with cocktails, then dinner and dancing to music by Avenida B, here are a few of the highlights from the event.
