CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Dior Homme spring 2014

Dior Homme designer Kris Van Assche kept it minimal for his Menswear spring 2014 collection. Sticking with standard colors that mix on classic suit silhouettes, this 49 piece set simply felt clean and new with squarely torsos. This designer drew inspiration from modernist painter Piet Mondrian and Art Basel in Miami. Models walked on a stage that featured mirrors resembling shiny disco balls. Pumping and enthralling… that classic Dior thrill ride.

Suits are mixed, coming in short and long variations. A funky twist is the color blocking on solid color looks in burgundy, deep mid blue and gray. An entire sleeve and side of a suit jacket vary in color, making it resemble a mosaic painting. Smooth sweaters are sleek with tapered arms, while boxy shoulders give the pieces a more modern flair. Several long coats look like ones straight out of The Matrix with an artistic twist. If instead of actually traveling through the matrix itself, they’d attend an art showing in these getups. There’s a cross between working man chic and breezy beachwear in this line.

Business suits have sleeves off, giving it a youthful vibe. The Miami influences resonate strongly in those looks. It’s a kind of style that could take off in those warmer climates. Guys, after a hard day of working, kick off your hot Oxfords (which are to die for here) and stick your feet in the sand. Work hard, play hard in this set. fdmLOVES DIOR HOMME Menswear spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Alliosn Ripa
